Frequently asked questions

Answers about Asto Client, the Minecraft launcher.

Is Asto Client free?
Yes, the launcher is free. For Minecraft Java Edition you need your own Minecraft account.
Which systems does Asto run on?
For Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) and for Linux (AppImage and .deb package). A version for macOS is not available yet.
Why do Windows or my browser warn me about the download?
The installer is not yet signed with a code-signing certificate. Windows (SmartScreen) and browsers therefore warn about new programs that few people have downloaded yet. You can check the file beforehand, for example with VirusTotal. Signing is planned.
Is Asto an official Minecraft product?
No. Asto is an independent project and is not affiliated with Mojang Studios or Microsoft. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Studios.
Which Minecraft versions and mod loaders are supported?
You can create any number of profiles with Vanilla, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt. The optimized Asto pack is tuned for Minecraft 26.2 with Fabric.
Can I take my data over from another launcher?
Yes. Asto imports from CurseForge, LabyMod, Badlion, NoRisk and Lunar. You choose what comes along, a snapshot is made first, and the old client stays unchanged.
Do others see my cosmetics?
Other players with Asto see your names, capes and badges in the game, in the tab list and above your head. Players without Asto do not see them.
Where do I report a bug or a request?
On the report a bug or request page. The launcher also has crash help.
